Suspense Snapped 5 Stars In the aftermath of a campus shooting, Sophie Barrett realizes that she witnessed something that undermines the authorities' "lone gunman" premise. While investigators are skeptical about Sophie's claims, a skilled and determined killer is not, and she soon finds herself in the sights of a dangerous assassin. Series note: Sophie and Jonah's story begins in the previous book, Unforgivable, as such it is recommended that the books be read in order. Snapped is an excellent mix of romance and suspense. Sophie and Jonah's relationship is reminiscent of the pairing in Whisper of Warning, book #2 in Griffin's Glass Sisters series. Although not as brash as Courtney Glass, Sophie uses snark and insolence to conceal a deeper vulnerability and desire to feel safe and loved. Jonah, similar to Will Hodges, has a core of strength and integrity, and it is fun watching him come to terms with his feelings for Sophie. They have amazing chemistry, and their witty banter and bickering is highly entertaining. The suspense plot is action-packed from the start as Sophie and Jonah are caught up in the events of the campus shooting and the subsequent investigation. The initial spree is nerve-racking as readers get an up-close view of events both from the perspective of the victims through Sophie and the police through Jonah. While Sophie is willfull and stubborn, she does manage to avoid being a completely TSTL heroine as she does possess some common sense and knows how to take care of herself. All in all, this is the best installment in the series so far, and I look forward to reading more about the new characters introduced here in future books. Sophie Barrett loves her job at the Delphi Center working with the Tracers, but she wants to be more than just a mere receptionist. Taking classes might help her chances for promotion, but when she is signing up for a class at the local university, there is a sniper shooting at students on campus. Detective Jonah Macon has already saved Sophie's life once before, but when his police unit is called in to stop the sniper, he discovers that Sophie is right in the center of danger once again. Is this sniper working alone, or is there a larger conspiracy at work? Sophie may hold the key if only someone will believe her. The story involving the sniper and the conspiracy is well developed in this book. The character of Sophie is irreverent and sarcastic, which makes reading about her a lot of fun; however, there is so much more to her that could have been explored. Sophie is clearly experiencing symptoms of PTSD due to her kidnapping in the previous book in this series, but even though it is mentioned that she should seek counseling, that part of her character is never really explored - an opportunity missed. Overall, however, this is another good story in the Tracers Series. My favourite so far: Sophie is caught up in a sniper shooting on a college campus. She is convinced that she saw the sniper's accomplice, but no one else even believes the sniper has an accomplice. Then Sophie herself come under attack and Jonah (Ric's partner from previous books) feels compelled to protect her. Apart from the way absolutely every one has a gun of some sort, I am really enjoying these. This book starts right off with Sophie Barrett going to sign up for a class and then a sniper opens fire on the college campus. I cannot imagine what this would be like. In fear for your own life yet being to helpless and having to watch others get shot. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
