This is a particularly interesting contribution to the erotic flagellation genre, with some graphic descriptions of spanking and caning punishments inflicted on young girls by a tutor who plainly enjoys enforcing his painful brand of discipline, even if it does lead him into temptations to go further with his errant charges. The work is set in the years around WWII, and it uses events in that conflict to link together otherwise disparate components of the tale. There is also a more than tenuous plot line about the tutor's interest in the jazz of Bix Beiderbecke, but this is barely significant in practice. The book begins with a substantial episode in which he quickly tames a particularly wilful girl, each punishment being more severe and humiliating than the last as he realises that the girl is enjoying his attentions. Against his better judgement, he develops his sessions with the girl into more intimate caresses and finally takes her virginity, leaving his job quickly to avoid the unavoidable scandal. This part of the book, all of 139pp, includes episodes in which he chastises a neighbour’s daughter, and then anonymously beats the daughter’s mother, essentially for enjoying the punishment too much. I gained the impression, at this stage in the book, that the author had run out of story, and that what follows was intended to amplify the work for publication as a stand-alone novel.
The teacher’s progress after his departure requires only relatively short stories, frequently more comfortable for work in this genre. Firstly, he takes a post tutoring (and caning) two teenage sisters in Italy, until he finds himself deflowering the elder sister, and feels obliged to move on again. In a subsequent move that almost represents a full circle, he becomes Head of a correctional establishment which happens to be housed in the place where he was originally tutor. However, although his original female charge, by now fully grown with children of her own, is still in the background, she remains there, not becoming involved again. The narrative is more fragmented here, involving in detail the correction of several submissive girls, episodes being stitched together in a way that shuns development of the plot. Eventually he finds a particularly submissive young lady, convent-trained to accept painful punishments, who is content to share his bed as well as his predilection for using bamboo rods, and the book ends, following closure of the school at the end of the war, with indications that he has established a stable relationship with this woman.
The value of the book for its intended purpose or erotic stimulation is high, partly because despite its lack of long-term structure and credible plot It is very successful in the short-term, in quite a large number of places, of providing the situations and detailed descriptions that will provide the necessary stimulus for many devotees of erotic flagellation literature.
