Charlie the Ranch Dog by Ree Drummond is a humorous look at a dog's life on the farm. Charlie is a basset hound who thinks he does most of the work around the ranch. However, really he does a lot of napping and eating. His friend, Susie does much more work and has a ton more energy. It shows a day in his life, including when he saves the day. Ree Drummond has given Charlie great voice in this story with many belly laughs. She has also hidden a fun chipmunk on each page - Can you find them all?

Summary- This book is about a dog named Charlie who lives on a Ranch. He talks about the many duties that happen on a ranch through out the day. He has another dog who helps and he talks about how together they do many things, even though Charlie mostly sleeps. It is a funny book while still allowing children to learn about what life on a ranch might look like.
Genre- This book is fantasy since Charlie the dog is talking and that would not happen in real life.
Age- K-2nd
