( ![]() My son is in 1st grade and found the book series in Kindergarten. He likes the repetition since he was learning to read. I had a choice of five books and he chose this one first since he was familiar with it. I like these books because it has rhyming words and great discussion pieces, to ask could we really swallow these things? Or why would she be swallowing this next? Great book for working on sequencing. This book is a great addition to any teacher's collection, one that students will always enjoy reading again and again. I enjoyed co-reading this story with my six (6) year old grandson. Summary: This is a great book to help young students learn about seasons. The old lady swallows some leaves to fill her shirt, but maybe she will sneeze. It is fun for students to keep reading this text to discover if she will sneeze, and what will happen to the leaves in her shirt. Personal Response: This was a fun book about the season of fall. I was able to connect with this book based on the fact that I did not know what was going to happen next. This text rhymes, so it is easy to get the hang of reading this book, and the possible difficult words that students might come across. Curriculum Connection: There are many books in this series. This is a great book to pair with the other books in the series, along with books about the seasons. This text pertains to young children who are just getting introduced to reading. This text has rhyming words, and is fun for readers and students. Genre: Fantasy Summary: The story follows the rhyme like there was an old lady who swallowed a fly, but instead it was leaves. This book would be great to introduce fall or to teach about rhymes and poems.
