At the beginning of the 2nd millenium when the use of computers in graphic and stylistic projecting became predominant, images were forced to become more rational. The geometries which blossomed in the 50's then returned into vogue. They were a new approach after the death of representational art and now adapt perfectly to the new rational dimension of digital, animation in TV or mobile phones, symbols used in brandmarks or the new revival of colour after the greys and blacks of the 90's. This new graphical, geometric world can be found in every sort of popular art, from textiles to school products, interior furnishing to design. The book is made up in 3 parts. The first is a research into the use of elementary forms such as the square, the circle and lines. The second is a world made up of geometric flowers, almost abstract, with regular, symmetrical lines and figures. The third approaches the world of pop art in its symbolical, optical, kinetic and psychedelic implications. This demonstrates that fantasy and chromatic variety can combine with geometric rationalism, far from the cold and minimalistic world that some think is their true essence. AUTHOR Vincenzo Sguera, an Italian architect, has been working in the field of design, fashion, textiles and accessories, directing several creative studios and developing products for many companies at an international level since 1977. In 2003 he founded Arkivia Books and has since worked as an author and publisher. ILLUSTRATIONS 200 colour *… (mer)
