Children enjoy this book as it follows The Gingerbread Girl and Boy. The students will already be familiar with the other stories they have heard prior to hearing this one. This adorable book is a one to be read to students at the first grade level. ( )

What a wonderful story! This is the sequel to "The Gingerbread Girl." It is Gingerbread Girl's birthday and the old man and the old woman give her a box of animal crackers. Gingerbread Girl is excited to have more cookie friends, but when she opens the box they run away. The animal crackers meet many people along their journey who try to eat them, but they always escape. Finally. they come to the river and trust Mr. Fox to take them across as he promises not to eat them. Gingerbread Girl gets to the river just in time and saves her animal cracker friends. This book would be an awesome edition to a fairy tales unit. ( )
