This book has excellent picture, and is a much easier read for kids. The book talks on different aspects of the rainforest and the different animals that live there.

I could introduce this book in class to provide many fundamental aspects of the rainforest when doing a lesson on biodiversity. The author presents accurate information about the rainforest and it's many organisms. It's environmental features are also demonstrated. The author also uses a couple of pages devoted to conservation of the rainforest by presenting illustartions and information on the many ways humans are desroying this valuable ecosystem. It is very nicely organized by the smll paragraphs and numbered illustrations that present the environmental lifestyles of the many forests inhabitants. The authors starts her way from the top of the rain forests, the canopy, eventually to the forest floor, describing how these biological systems interact. There is a table of contents, many illustrations as well as actual pictures, and an index. Sources are cited and a glossary was not provided. Interesting little side paragraphs do descibe many of the specific organisms present in the rainforest.

The more I read in this series the more I love them. The "Explorers" series is incredible. The picture are beautiful and very entertaining to the reader, it makes science fun! In this book you learn about animals and insects found at all level of the rainforest. Includes interactive questions and a glossary. ( )
