It creates a connection from the reader to the story, pulls them in and engages by the narrative writing style. The illustrations are done in watercolor. Comments on use: Introducing some brief knowledge of World War II. Being used in history class can attract students' attention and interest. Age appropriateness: middle school This book tells the story of an important meeting between Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill in 1941. Although the book doesn't give readers much history knowledge, it instead introduces readers to the friendship between Churchill and Roosevelt. The illustrations made the story more interesting and helped aid the story very well; they would also make the story more appealing to young children, in my opinion. This story written by Douglas Wood is an introduction to the friendship and deep trust shared by Winston and Roosevelt. The story of when the Christmas meeting between Churchill and Roosevelt who partnered up as the two leaders of the free world to establish one of the greatest military alliance. I would highly recommend reading this book to students especially around Christmas time. It teaches us about the history that happened and what these two amazing men were able to accomplish. The illustrations is really good in this book and brings out the scenes. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

A compelling look at two leaders who held the world's fate in their hands— and the holiday visit that sealed a friendship and steered the course of World War II. At the height of World War II, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill held an extraordinary month-long visit, during which they planned the success of the Allied powers and strategized a continuing peace for when the war ended.
I will use it in history class too if necessary. ( )
