Steve Jenkins and Robin Page did a great job in creating a book that can span many age groups. The book can be used as a scaffolding tool for young readers because it has different levels of information on each page. For younger readers, they can read the narrative portion of the pages and as the understand more they can also read the informational and scientific sections within the same page. The illustrations are large and have vivid colors that catch the eye every page you turn. ( )

This book is all about different kinds of birds throughout time. The main place that the information comes from is on the sides of the pages. There is actually a small amount written on each page, but the big amount of information is around the pages written in small print. I love how it tells about how birds evolved. I also love how it tells about todays birds: the fastest, the slowest, the largest, the smallest, etc.. Great book for students or children interested in birds. The illustrations are also large and clear. ( )
