When a pandemic strikes, members of the Chatfield family possess a crucial advantage. For those who enjoy a good apocalypse, this book, while not well written, is an enjoyable read. Almost everyone in the world is wiped out in a few weeks by a super sars virus. The survival of the remaining folk - all part of the same family - relies on widening the gene pool as much as possible. This story tells of the journey across the world of a father and son who arrive at their families English home to find the remaining members held in total submission by an autocratic and violent elder. While this story is enjoyable there are many faults, the chief of which seems to me to be that only one of the women are able to think for themselves without dire consequences. (
