Entertaining enough novella, with at least one really good idea, but not enough going on in it to really make it shine. It's a fun addition to the Dark Tower series but far from King's best. ( )

Meh. Average at best, at least in terms of the story. The artwork was very well done, but it's amazing how often I can't tell the difference between two characters. You'd think amazing artists like this would design characters to look decidedly different. ( )

Le Pistolero est un roman fantastique qui s’ancre solidement dans la mythologie de Stephen King. L’homme en noir, ennemi juré de Roland le Pistolero, force une poursuite inlassablement à travers un monde désertique à l’agonie. Le conflit se complique quand Jake, un enfant perdu de notre propre monde, se retrouve malgré lui au centre du conflit. La plume de King dépeint un décor détaillé et lourd, une atmosphère opprimante, où les personnages peinent à progresser. Le rythme lent permet aux lecteurs d’apprécier les descriptions et les personnages, mais ce premier tome pourrait se montrer coriace pour un débutant de King.

I liked returning to Roland quite a lot, and while you can read the story without any knowledge of the larger series, there are SERIOUS SPOILERS CONTAINED wtf Mr King. Otherwise creepy in a nice way. ( )
