The whole school embarks on a million minute reading challenge, which will culminate at the same time of the release of a new zombie series book. The whole town seems to be involved in the excitement! Stink and friends dress up, make big plans, and read, read, read. My 2nd and 3rd grade students who are obsessed with zombies will love this latest Stink story! There is just enough zombie to satisfy their adventurous side, but not enough to induce nightmares. ( )

It’s almost time for the town’s Midnight Zombie Walk, and Stink can’t wait! On top of that, the new book (about cootie brains!) in Stink’s favorite series is coming out that night. But zombie-obsessed Stink and best friend Webster need to find a way to pay for the book, which lead the dynamic duo into some sticky situations. In this seventh book in the popular Stink series, there is plenty more humor and hijinks for Stink, sister Judy, and other friends. The story is a quick read, with some interspersed extras (for example, zombie haiku and “Ten Ways to Tell If Your Sister Is a Zombie”). The “ick” factor in this zombie read is pretty tame, and the fun factor is pretty high, making it a good choice for many young readers. Recommended. For ages 5-8. ( )
