Three of King Arthur's most beloved knights, Sir Launcelot, Sir Tristram and Sir Percival, headline their own fantastical tales of love, honor and inescapable duty. The Story of the Champions of the Round Table offers an intimate look at the many obstacles and triumphs of the famous warriors. Sir Launcelot, the first knight of the round table, is a prominent fixture who appears alongside King Arthur on various quests. He becomes a legend in his own right due to his incomparable fighting skills and charm. A conflicted Sir Tristram falls in love with a beautiful young woman called Isoult, who is already betrothed to a king. Meanwhile, Sir Percival journeys to the Castle of Beaurepaire and is faced with new and unexpected challenges. Each story showcases the characters by testing their strength and morals in the face of opposition. This novel is an enjoyable addition to the Arthurian canon, which continues to thrive in Europe and abroad. This step in Pyle's Redaction contains "The Story of Lancelot, covering his chilhood and emergence as the best knight in the world; The Book of Sir tristram, the complete life story of the entanglement with La Belle Isolde, and its outcome,;and the Book of sir Percival, also an origin story. The language is clear enough, and the art is at a wonderfully high level. The book was originally published in 1905, ( )

The Pyle retellings of the Arthur stories were the version which meant "Arthur" to me when I was young. I loved the illustrations and was not put off by the "forsoothly" language. I originally read them in big fat hardcover versions in the Bowling Green Ohio Public Library and only bought these paperback Dover reprints more recently. ( )

It has already been set forth in print in a volume written by me concrning the adventures of King Arthur when he first became king, how there were certain lesser kings who favoured him and were friendly allies with him, and how there were certain otherrs of the same sort that were his enemies.
