I wouldn't be able to use this one as a read-aloud since Lindbergh "rhymes" several words that, for me, don't rhyme, which would make it difficulty storytime reading. ( )

Once the sun is down and dinner is done a young boy and his mother travel the ground of their farm to check on all of their animals. They check on the horses, pigs, sheep, and chickens to make sure all of them are home safe where they should be. They love their animals and tend to all their needs. Once the animals are taken care of it is finally time to go to sleep. The young boy can go to sleep knowing that he is safe and exactly where he wants to be.

This book rhymes so of course I enjoyed it. They paintings were realistic and very well done. I think any age group would like it because there are so many types of animals in it. It’s very easy to understand and easy to read aloud. The students I read this book to did not really like it because they said it was boring. Which for a child anxious to go around and run around I would think it would be pretty boring. But none the less it is a well written book.

This book would be perfect for a study over farm or farm animals. It does not teach you much about the farm animals but it has a great description in the illustrations and it shows different colors and sizes of animals so that the children learn that there is more than one type or color of a certain animal. I think the children would be able to learn more from the illustrations than the actual story itself.
