The Reader's Digest brought together an impressive group of consultants to work on this volume, which includes drawings, photographs and maps.The table of contents is broken up into eight sections.A short epilogue is included. It begins with this preface, "In three hundred years, the early Christian faith grew to become the dominant religion of the Roman Empire. Meanwhile the Jews, deprived of their homeland, carried their own faith into communities around the world." The book is well indexed.

This book shows how real men and women lived by faith. Each historical period of the Bible is introduced by a description of the times and as the story of each of the great peoples is told, the Biblical account is mingled with fascinating new information and explanations the illuminate the stories
