Title: Massacre at Powder River (Matt Jensen, The Last Mountain Man #7)
Author: William W. Johnstone and J. A. Johnstone
E-book format: 385 pages
Year: 2011
Publisher: Pinnacle
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Massacre at Powder River is the seventh book in this series and extremely exciting to read! The book starts out with a scene in which Winston Churchill is chatting with General Eisenhower and recalling an adventure he had as a young boy. Then readers are taken back to the time when Winston was a young boy and traveling across the ocean with his mother to visit an aunt and uncle in Wyoming.
Before that visit though we read how Matt Jensen has a score to settle for those who murdered a friend of his. The wonderful thing about Matt Jensen’s character is how he makes sure to be on the right side of the law. Matt is a man who comes to the aid of a friend or family member whether near or far. When Matt is asked to come to the ranch that Winston is at, it is to see to it that no harm comes to him or his mother. But there is more for Matt to do, and he will soon discover that it will mean he has to stay alert and aware of his surroundings as men try to dispatch him no matter where Matt is or what he is doing.
Reading the series in order has really helped me understand the development of this character. While it is entirely possible to read any book in the series without reading any prior books, it does help to go through the series in the order published.
