For all that Frances Hodgson Burnett's classism is more evident in this book than either of her more popular books, there is still something charming about a boy who is very good and innocent becoming a lord. It's rather like a Cinderella story really. And I'm a sucker for redemption stories too, as Cedric's grandfather changes for the better. Perhaps not as good as The Secret Garden, where our protagonists are allowed flaws but I'm glad I got round to this one.
