This book would be good for primary or intermediate students. This book is "Flotsam" by David Wiesner, published in 2009. This book is a wordless book, but the pictures say so much. This boy is having a fun day on the beach and an old camera washes up. He gets the film put into pictures and he then looks at all the pictures. He finds pictures of crazy things that happen in the sea and also a picture where every time it washes up, a new person takes a pictures with that same picture and it goes really far back in time. I would definitely use this in my classroom because it would be a good time to introduce books and stop and ask questions about what they infer the pictures mean, what will happen next, etc. This book would work well for intermediate because of the length of the book, I think younger kids would have a hard time focusing for so long. This wordless picture book is about a curious young boy at the beach who stumbles upon an old camera. The photos he finds on this camera inspire his curiosity and imagination as he wonders about the contents of the photos. This would be a great "read-aloud" to discuss the progression of the story and is a wonderful story to promote imagination and curiosity. An incredibly fun, whimsical picture book with no words. A boy finds a film camera in the ocean and discovers other worldly pictures on the roll of film. Incredible story telling and art. The plot is complex and engaging for even upper elementary readers. I could see it being used as a mentor text for upper elementary on visual story telling or plot progression. This wordless picture book tells through illustrative detail the story of a young boy who finds a camera washed up on the beach. After developing the film from the camera, the boy discovers secrets of the undersea world and life spanning across different parts of the world and through time. Readers will enjoy studying the intricacies of each page as they unravel the journey of the camera. Winner of the 2007 Caldecott Medal. This wordless story is a masterpiece of imagination. A young man, clearly inquisitive and innovative, spends the day at the beach, only to discover a mystical underwater camera, complete with a full roll of film. Developing the pictures yields an album of wonders beyond imagining. This book pulls at the heart of every child who has wondered about the mysteries hidden in the ocean depths or beyond the curve of the horizon. Characters are white, although the views of the oceans show much of the world beyond the American beaches of the Atlantic. The nature of the story, however, invites readers to dive in deep, revelling in the magic of the ocean more than connecting with the character, creating a universality that is enjoyable. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
