( ![]() This story carries the same tone and theme as many others by Woodson, who challenges racial prejudice and offers a space of inclusion and diversity in her characters. EACH KINDNESS is no different than her other stories in this way, but it does tell a different story. EACH KINDNESS is about a little girl named Maya that is bullied due to her torn and dirty clothes. Classmate Chloe turns away from Maya's attempts to befriend her. One day, Maya is gone. Chloe learns a lesson about kindness after the fact, when it is too late to make a difference. I really liked the lesson this story taught and thought it could be very valuable to teach to students from a young age - especially with the amount of bullying that is occurring. It could make a difference and teach a lesson before it needed to be learned that hard way. This book is told from the perspective of Chloe. She's in elementary school, and her life seems to be going pretty well until Maya, the new girl, tries to befriend. Maya tries really hard to make friends, but unfortunately her efforts aren't successful. She's bullied and left out. Chloe thinks nothing of this until her teacher does a kindness activity. Chloe realizes her mistake, but it's too late. This book is great read for a class. I read the book to my after-school students, and we did the same activity they did in the book. It opened up a conversation about bullying and its effects. I would highly recommend. This is a story that has a lesson of how important being kind to others is. In this book, a girl named Maya is bullied and left out when she arrives to a new school. No matter how hard Maya tries, no one will be kind enough to befriend her. Chloe, the narrator, doesn't know why she won't befriend the new girl and one day it's too late and Maya is gone. Chloe's teacher gives a lesson on kindness, explaining its like dropping a rock in the pond and watching the ripples spread out. When we are kind to others the kindness will spread. Chloe is saddened by the missed opportunity to show kindness to the new girl. This is a heartbreaking story that reminds people to be kind with every chance they get because there may not be a second chance to be kind to others. The author combines text and illustrations to captivate the readers and sends a message of how important it is to show kindness to others. This is a great book that I think everyone should take the time to read! A quite sad story about a girl named Maya who moved to a new school and was bullied and left out. They all call her "never new" because Maya's family was poor, and didn't have enough to buy her brand new clothes. No matter how hard Maya tries, no one will be her friend. The day that Maya doesn't show back up to class, the teacher teaches her students about kindness. Dropping a stone in the water and saying something nice they did, and then watching the waves ripple. The narrator finally realized how her actions can effect Maya. She felt really bad, and wanted to make things right. But, it was too late, because Maya had moved away. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
When Ms. Albert teaches a lesson on kindness, Chloe realizes that she and her friends have been wrong in making fun of new student Maya's shabby clothes and refusing to play with her. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
