Interesting. It's very similar (in characters, not setting or events) to my favorite Dyer, Sunday Kind of Love. Like that, this has the abused woman learning to trust again; she's suffered emotional abuse from everyone she should have been able to trust. Sunday she's been on her own for a while and learned that there are decent people around; in Eagle, she meets him literally as the first person after she escapes the bad relationship. He's also a lot more introspective, about himself and her, and there's more of a crisis that they have to deal with. Lily never seemed to worry about her worth - possibly because she had a value outside her looks, and that returns on its own. Chandra really has a problem with it, though I don't think Linc's solution (at least, not presented that way) was the best. Anyway, good story, though I still like Sunday better. And like Sunday, part of a series that I want to read the rest of. I don't know what the title(s) of the rest of the series are, though - I'll have to hunt a bit. ( )
