Never a dull moment, kept you on the edge of your seat. I am starting to like Bennett as much as Alex Cross. ( )

Gone is the 6th book of the Michael Bennett series and I am a sucker for a good mystery. I love this series and in particular this book. Michael Bennett is a NYPD detective with ten kids who are currently in witness protection due to a notorious drug lord named Manuel Perrine set out a wanted sign for anyone Bennett cares about. This is what gets the Bennett clan from the loud noisy state of New York to a quiet farm in California. When Mike's friend Emily Parker comes to visit them from the FBI, to get Mike back on the case to hunt down Manuel Perrine will this plan backfire and get his family into more trouble? The intended audience would be high-school, 9-12.

I would allow students to pick a book every 9 weeks, so at the end of the year there will be four books. (compound) I then would have them pick different genres and do different assignments with their books, they would have to be checked off by the teacher and approved. Then they would have until the week nine of the nine weeks to turn it in.

The student is expected to:

(A) read and analyze American literature across literary periods;

(B) analyze relationships among characteristics of poetry, including stanzas, line breaks, speaker, and sound devices in poems across a variety of poetic forms;

(C) analyze how the relationships among dramatic elements advance the plot;

(D) analyze characteristics and structural elements of informational texts such as:

(i) clear thesis, strong supporting evidence, pertinent examples, commentary, summary, and conclusion; and

(ii) the relationship between organizational design and author's purpose;

(E) analyze characteristics and structural elements of argumentative texts such as:

(i) clear arguable thesis, appeals, structure of the argument, convincing conclusion, and call to action;

(ii) various types of evidence and treatment of counterarguments, including concessions and rebuttals; and

(iii) identifiable audience or reader; and

(F) analyze the effectiveness of characteristics of multimodal and digital texts. ( )

Detective Bennett, along with his ten adopted children, their nanny, and his grandfather, are hidden safely on a rural California farm, with guards courtesy of the FBI's witness protection program. Perrine begins to embark on an escalating series of assassinations across the country, killings whose brazenness and audacity bring into question the possibility of safety and law in the US. Ends up in Mexico. ( )
