I never realized how much I love Cole and Ali together until I almost started crying at how much of a butt Cole was being during the beginning of the book. I'm being completely serious. I was just like no, stop. You're messing with my feels. I love how everyone is a couple in this book though. It's so freaking adorable! I loved Through the Zombie Glass more than Alice in Zombieland, if that's even possible. It has everything I love and need:
Action? Oh yes. Let's go kill some zombies!
Evilness? TONS
Romance? ❤❤❤❤ That's all.
Swoony boys? :D COLE ❤❤❤
Perfection? YES. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE THIRD ONE. ( )

I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler-free way. Unfortunately, there is still always a risk of slight spoilers despite my best efforts. If you feel something in my review is a spoiler please let me know. Thank you.

Ali gets bit by Justin after he is bit by a zombie and now she has zombie-like urges that the antidote won't cure, and it's getting worse. If that isn't bad enough, Cole is having a relationship crisis that starts because Ali starts having visions with Gavin, one out of two of the new slayers. And some of these visions are pretty steamy. Ali is dealing with jealousy over the other slayer Veronica, who it turns out, is also Cole's ex-girlfriend.

Like:
~Steamy romance
~Lots of action
~Badass heroine
~Alice in Wonderland retelling
~Focus on family and friend relationships as well as the romantic

Dislikes:
~A little angsty this time
~Most of Ali's friends suck

I fell in love with this series in the first book. I think I might like this one even more. The relationships between all the characters felt more in-depth this time. I like the added bit of a love triangle in there. There was lots of action as usual, and Ali is still majorly badass. I'm annoyed with all of Ali's friends except Kat and Reeve. I can't tell to much do to spoilers, but when things get tough. Kat is the only one to stick by her side, and the only reason Reeve doesn't is that she doesn't know what's going on because her dad is kind of a moron who makes dumb decisions. Anyway, rant over. Can't wait to see how the story continues to progress. ( )

I have been looking forward to this book for a year, especially seeing as Gena Showalter was so wonderfully original with her zombies as well as with her portrayal of Alice, the Mad-Hatter, and all the other characters we loved from Lewis Carroll‘s original Alice in Wonderland. But where the first book in the White Rabbit Chronicles were filled with metaphorical elements reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland, Through the Zombie Glass was riddled with sexed up messages, completely forgetting about the fact that there’s supposed to be more “Wonderland-esque-ness” to this paranormal book. Yes, we get to see Ali, Cole, Emma and all the other characters (as well as a few new ones), but there was a lack of magic in this one that was caused by nothing more than teenage hormones. What’s more is that Gena Showalter played a dangerous game by walking the line between what’s considered young adult and smut…

That being said, I still enjoyed Through the Zombie Glass, even though the sequel lacked the same impact that Alice in Zombieland made.

Some authors (and I wholly admire them) have the ability to write in a crude way, their voices raw and unique, delivering an entertaining read to audiences. Gena Showalter has that particular ability, and no matter what critique I offer as far as the few editing mistakes I saw (especially near the end) and how the plot diverged from what I had expected, she still put a fantastic story on paper that made me turn the pages. Frankly, I still want more of the White Rabbit Chronicles.

My only request is that Showalter bring back the Alice in Wonderland metaphors. I want to search for the influences where the original version and this new version collide. I don’t want it easily thrown at me in the way of Ali dressing up as Alice in Wonderland for Halloween or the tick tock nonsense where she saw her zombie-self in the mirror… no. I want to see more teacups and cards, more flamingo golf and roses. I want to be surprised by how ingenuously old and new metaphors are incorporated into the White Rabbit Chronicles, and I hope Book #3 will give that to me.

So, should you read it? Well I can’t wait for the next installment, even though I’ve been very critical of Through the Zombie Glass, so yeah, this is a great young adult series to follow. Like I said, Showalter walked a fine line, but she never crossed it, and it irked me to some extent, but I understood very well why she never crossed it. In other words, it’s frustratingly awesome and I’ll read it again. By all means, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Very good second book in this series but I will admit I got a little tired of all the couple drama going on in the ranks. Gavin was a nice surprise but I really was disappointed in Cole, even though Showalter had given oodles of foreshadowing about what a bad boy he was. ( )

2.4 stars- barely based on lowlife characters and TSTL actions
Zombies hunters vs zombies and evil scientist.
I loved the idea, the spirt hunting, the different abilities awakening and the possibilities. The action was there, I was on the edge of my seat more than once. But why bring in abuse, and ridiculous actions into the story. I was rolling my eyes at the jealousy, the he-slut moves and the stupid thinking of this girl.
Ali, stupid, hormonal virgin Ali. I cut bits of stars off for each completely stupid move Ali made. Ali, the special little snowflake acted like a brat. Taking matters into her own hands, after being warned it was a bad bad thing. She would run off into the fire and placed everyone in serious danger. I was generous and gave her a few free chips because of her age, she suffers from high school level hormonal drama.
Cole, the macho he slut was such a complete jerk. I'd beat him bloody with anything in reach if he treated my daughter that way or one of her friends. His character was repulsive and I worry that some young mind might find his actions ok. I thinking about cutting another star off right now. I was miffed that the author made his turdness acceptable to the group of slayers/friends. I would have liked to see a stronger character backlash, not the "oh he loves me so I'll forget everything" bit. He used girls, emotionally and physically and brushed it off like it was nothing, and this is the hero ? She looked into his eyes and saw longing making all he did disappear. REPULSIVE ! As I'm recapping my experience I'm getting angrier. I'm not sure I want to finish the series.
I do not find abusive characters entertaining, and even less so to a young character who might connect with a reader. I like the story, despise the direction of the characters. Ali is doormat that asked for more, her great love is a dirty pair of boots. ( )
