Christmas story with wonderful illustrations ( ![]() [Scholastic] Don and Audrey Wood present the long-awaited sequel to their best-selling classic The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear , in this delightful holiday tale about a little mouse with a BIG heart. Now the little Mouse is ready to celebrate a joyous Christmas — until he suddenly finds out that the big, hungry Bear who lives nearby would love to get his paws on all of the little Mouse's presents. After all, nobody ever gives presents to that Bear. Not even Santa Claus. In a burst of compassion, warmth, and generosity, the little Mouse dons a Santa suit and fills his sled with gifts for the big, hungry Bear. Painted in watercolors, acrylics, and colored pencil (the same technique as its predecessor), Merry Christmas, Big Hungry Bear! is sure to warm the hearts of families everywhere. 31 months - If you've read the original and loved it you'll enjoy this one with a Christmas twist. This is a very cute story! This story is about a little mouse who has a lot of presents under the tree. Little mouse is not willing to share with Big bear. He wants all his presents to himself. Then, he is told that bear does not have any presents. So, mouse gives a numerous amount of presents to bear. In return, Bear gave mouse a big gift! This is a great book about sharing! I think the story, “Merry Christmas, BIG HUNGRY BEAR!” is a cute Christmas picture book to share with children. The illustrator, Don Wood, did a remarkable job of creating the Christmas atmosphere. Specifically, the tree was decorated with colorful ornaments and silver tinsel. Also, there were piles and piles of neatly wrapped presents underneath the Christmas tree with red, blue, yellow, green, and white bows. It resembled the vision of Christmas so well it made me happy, since it is my favorite time of the year. In addition to this, the writing format also draws the reader in. By using all caps and exclamations points, the author was able to stress the important events. Likely, when the book stated “HIDE, LITTLE MOUSE! SOMEONE BIG IS PEEKING!” This indicated the panic when the big hungry bear was coming. All in all, I think the central idea of this text was to point out the idea of friendship and sharing. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
