Each book in this series is like a visit with old friends. I imagine I could take a walk on Tlokweng Road and perhaps see Mma Ramotswe’s vintage white van parked in the shade near the office of The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. “Gentle” is not a word I usually apply to mystery stories, but these books are surely that. The people are far more important and valuable than the plot. Smith builds some good, sometimes a lot of good, into nearly every character, and makes me impatient for the net visit. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Precious Ramotswe is asked to help the proprietor of the Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon, who is having trouble with her business. The salon has suffered some unfortunate events, including face cream that burns the skin. Could someone be trying to put the salon out of business? Meanwhile, on the home front, Grace Makutsi is going to have a baby. But in Botswana--a land where family has always been held above all else but which is on the crossroads between old and new--this may be cause for as much controversy as celebration. Alexander McCall Smith - The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon: I like the female-centric (more than usual) tone, but not that most of them are acting badly! #cursorybookreviews #cursoryreviews ( )
