Cute

A very cute and quick read. I loved how Logan and Bronte met and had to go through to survive. The situation created a bond between them that was intensified by their attraction and chemistry. They both had to learn to deal with their own insecurities so they could truly be together. I truly enjoyed it. ( )

Eh. He's rich, she's down-home, small-town, real-people and of course not into money. Not bad, but not good. ( )

Ben scritta, molto scorrevole e piacevole questa prima storia della serie The Billionaire Boys Club, ma con un titolo in italiano che non c'entra assolutamente nulla con la tutta la vicenda. Logan Hawkings e Brönte Dawson durante un terribile uragano restano bloccati in un ascensore durante l'evacuazione dell'isola e questo imprevisto darà il via a una storia intrigante e sexy. Pur nella sua semplicità la storia mi è piaciuta molta e adesso sono molto curiosa di leggere quelle degli altri componenti del gruppo. ( )

It was fine, I guess, but I never really felt engaged by the story. Brontë was wishy washy, even though she grew a backbone in the middle/towards the end and Logan was kind of a douche and I never believed that his opinion of women-in-general improved.

This is probably just nitpicking, but I live in NYC and there's a scene where Brontë is getting to the subway platform and realizes she doesn't know where she's going. She calls an acquaintance on her cell phone and asks for help. And when asked which station she's waiting at, Brontë doesn't know. So, first of all, you can't get cell service on most NYC subway platforms. A lot of the stations, especially the ones uptown where Brontë and Logan are, are too deep underground and haven't been wired up yet. Second of all, Brontë is already on the platform. There are signs showing the station and line all over the place. On the support columns, on the walls, hanging over the edge of the platform, and also on the entrance to the station itself. I know she's meant to be distraught but she wasn't so distraught that she couldn't call a virtual stranger for help. She's supposed to be unable to read a sign? What the hey? ( )

I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was a typical romance fantasy but then the title sort of gives that away right? The cover also hints that it might be erotica too right? but it isn't although of course it does have love scenes. There are a few unexpected moments mostly having to do with her standing up for herself and him kind of bending over backwards to make her happy. So although this might seem like a Harlequin Presents knock off it really isn't. The characters are a bit more real than in the HP world. Both of the characters grew and realized something about themselves and tried to change their behavior and expectations.

And the ride was pretty fun.

Minor gripe though why did it take them almost a full day to decide to get out of the elevator? If it was as easy as it turned out to be, then they could have been evacuated with everyone else and the book wouldn't have happened. So the author should have made the exit from the elevator a much harder ordeal. ( )
