"The Fall of the Governor, Part 1" has you in its hand with very few dull moments. Those only build suspense and build into the horror of the situation later. I warn you that this book describes sadistic torture in detail. It wasn't easy to hear. I could not stop listening to this book. I heard it on the Senior Van, in the doctor's office, and working around the house. This book is a worthy read. Whereas I felt the first two books in this series (The Rise of the Governor) added something to The Walking Dead universe, for most of this book I felt as though I didn’t need to be reading this. Having watched the series and read the graphic novels, this book offers yet a third version of the same world, that of Woodbury and the zombie fights that take place in the arena within Woodbury’s walls. In some ways, it’s bad enough when a beloved book series gets an adaptation to screen (or vice versa) and the fanbase must juggle two timelines in their minds when the stories differ. Why would I want a third? All I can say is this book has one of the most bloody revenge outcomes I’ve read in a long time. Definitely not a scene they would have got away with on the small screen or graphic novel. Wow! This series of events was my favorite, so far, in the graphic novels. It's interesting to read about the same series of events in novel form. Wow! Just wow! Either way, I don't like that in the novel this happens 2 years after the first novel, 2 years after the start of things. That really changes everything -- Lori's baby can't, really, be Shane's. No way was Rick in a coma for 2 years, without any medical intervention, fluids, anything! And Lily's pregnancy -- I don't know enough about being pregnant but would 1 week after having sex really show up as being pregnant on a pregnancy stick? Either way ... WOW! HTML: The third book in Robert Kirkman's New York Times bestselling series, The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor! The Walking Dead original novel series, set in Robert Kirkman's iconic universe, continues with The Fall of the Governor. From co-authors Kirkman, creator of the Eisner Award-winning comic book and executive producer of AMC's blockbuster TV series, and Jay Bonansinga, Stoker Award-finalist and internationally acclaimed author, comes the gripping third novel in this richly woven, page-turning literary saga, which began with The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor. In Rise of the Governor, uber-villain Philip Blake journeyed from his humble beginnings directly into the dark heart of the zombie apocalypse, and became the self-proclaimed leader of a small town called Woodbury. In The Road to Woodbury, an innocent traveler named Lilly Caul wound up in the terrifying thrall of Phillip Blake's twisted, violent dictatorship within Woodbury's ever tightening barricades. And now, in The Fall of the Governor, the Governor's complex story continues in a tour de force of action and horror. Iconic characters from the comic book, including Rick, Michonne and Glenn, finally make their entrance onto this nightmarish stage, and fans of The Walking Dead will see these characters in a whole new light. .Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

Three of my favorite characters from the Walking Dead, Rick, Glenn and Michonne have been captured by the Governor and his people. Their treatment is horrific and battle lines are now firmly drawn. Although this was extremely difficult to listen to, this is basically a rehash of the story line that was used both in the comics and on the television show but with added gore and intensity.
I would not recommend this book to anyone other than die-hard fans of the Walking Dead. It is violent, gory, disturbing and horrific. To make matters worse, there is still one more book to come before the end of the Governor as somewhere along the line, it was decided to split the finale into two books. ( )
