What is the ONE thing you could do that will help you achieve your goals? This is what Gary Keller and Jay Papasan asked in their book, The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results*. Actually, they ask you to find the ONE Thing about many different topics.

Always interested in how to get more out of my day, I always felt I was missing something. I discovered this book while listening to Entrepreneurs on Fire—a podcast focusing on entrepreneurs. This book helped me find a clearer path to my goals. I have already started to apply some of the lessons to my work and I am happy with the results. I also forewarned my team that we would be using some of these ideas to knock out some of our team goals. Read more ( )

Simple and powerful message. I get a similar lift from reading Getting Things Done or 4 Hour Workweek - the key in these books is to implement the lessons to your life! Stick with them- it'll take 66 days for a habit to stick - so persevere and live with purpose! ( )

The best part: The Focusing Question, which is "What's the one thing that I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?". The exploration of this question alone is worth reading the chapter which dives into this question

The good parts: The sections on how multi-tasking doesn't work, how working on your "one thing" when you have the most energy in the day is important, and how to use the "one thing" focusing question throughout the day.

The rest: Lots of effort made in using famous authors to support the basic premise of the book.

The "please, no more": Cites the "Marshmallow Test" as proof of diminishing willpower, cites Carol Dwyer's "growth mindset" for thinking big, and adds Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs, and Steel" as evidence of... y'know, I was skimming the book so fast by this point that it doesn't matter. Point being is I'm tired of reading about these things as part of whatever "research" the author uses to make their premise seem more authentic. ( )

This is one of the most important book I've read about productivity. I used to think that being productive = working nonstop. I was wrong. Being productive is focusing on doing 1 thing extremely well. That's it! This book helps me to relax and helps me to get the most important work done. I love this book till the point that I've highlighted digital quotes about it - in case if you're interested https://graciousquotes.com/gary-keller-quotes/ - The ONE Thing should be on every office's bookshelf. An interesting book that helped me consider my view on my everyday life and habits. The author have done a nice job on providing his research and experience on productivity. I might consider reading this nook in he future because there's many useful advice on productivity. If people want to read a book on productivity, I recommend to at least check this book. ( )
