This is a nice collection of quilt patterns collected from Fons and Porter's magazine, Love of Quilting. Fons and Porter have clear, easy to follow directions and plenty of advice for making each block. Many of the quilts shown in the book are made with reproduction fabrics, but you can, of course, substitute your own fabric choices for theirs. I've seen some stunning quilts using old quilt patterns but made with contemporary fabrics. ( )

This is especially for those quilters who love collecting fat quarters and have stacks of them in their cupboards. The projects are of varying degrees of difficulty -- this book goes beyond the same simple strip quilts found everywhere. However, both beginners and more advanced quilters can find projects here.

There is a beautiful photograph of each finished quilt, as well as a coloured line drawing. The instructions are clear and concise, and there are general quilting and quiltmaking instructions included at the end of the book. Some patterns use only a few fat quarters, and some can put to use the stash of square collectors. Many of the patterns use 60 or more fat quarters, which, of course, means you can go out and buy 60 more!
