I will always read anything written by K A! ( ) 3.75 Stars Definitely not my favorite of KA's books and I'm beginning to think one of my least favorite of her series. Any 'Action' of the suspense was pretty much 'Behind the Scenes'. That was annoying. The steam is there. I liked Decker and Emme, but really, the entire story was 'Ho-Hum'. I probably should have given this a 3.5 rounded to 3 stars. But there was just enough for me to take it to the next level. If we could do half stars I would have rated it 3.5. but it is too good for a 3 star. Middle of the road on this book. Emme, a woman coming into her own at the age of 34, finds she's always had the man of her dreams in her life and just didn't realize it. Jacob, an intelligent man with a dangerous job, loved the wrong woman and finds the right one was under his nose for 14 years. Sounds interesting as we read to discover how these good friends could have missed each other and what they had to live through to make it back to one another. The "uber Aplha" that is Jacob constantly telling Emme she's disconnecting and has her head messed up was turning me off. Granted, kidnapped and held for 3 days when you are 12 years old would scar a lot of folks but damn....do you have to throw it up in her face every 5 pages? (Or did it just feel like he did it that often?) He got all up in her face because of her unhealthy attachment to Harvey yet wasn't his sleeping with the ex who dumped him and scarred him...then agreeing to see her so she could make amends any worse? It was okay for him to get together for coffee with Elsbeth to grant forgiveness but for Emme to do it was stupid? Forgiveness is not for the person who did wrong but the victim so they can move forward why would the man who loves her beyond anything not want that for her and not try to see it from that point of view? Nope, Jacob decided he didn't like it and his word is law. Maybe that's what set me back a bit in this story....while other of KA's leading men have been uber Alphas too they weren't so...so...can't even find the right word to express how ??? Jacob made me feel. Most times I love the leading man, I'm rooting for him to win the girl; with Jacob half the time I want to tell him to shut up and leave me alone. But hopeless sucker for a HEA I continued on reading. Finished the book but can't say it's one I'll ever revisit. Thinking it's time for a KA break, maybe I'll go read about dragons and other believable characters since this left a bad taste in my mouth that I need to get rid of somehow. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
