I finished listening to this book a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The idea of circular lives was fascinating and I am still thinking about that idea. And the plot of this book...the cataclysm and Harry's attempt to correct it.....was very riveting. I enjoyed following Harry through his many lives and will look forward to other books by this author! Interesting premise. Great narrative, bringing all the side stories into place. Kind of like Scott Lynch (is that the guy who wrote Lies of Locke Lamora? If not, that'll be super-embarrassing, because I'm on a site where I could easily look up authors and books.) This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Intricate plot, with a new twist on time travel. Loved it. I hope to see the Next Fifteen Lives of Harry August. Harry is reborn into the same body after his deaths. But, he knows everything that happened in his previous lives. He discovers there are more people like him and that the world is being destroyed. Of course, it becomes his job to save it. Very clever book. I hate to say more. I have read that Claire North is a pseudonym. Would love to know the real author's name. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

HTML:Wildly original, funny and moving, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August is an extraordinary story of a life lived again and again from World Fantasy Award-winning author Claire North. Harry August is on his deathbed. Again. No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes. Until now. As Harry nears the end of his eleventh life, a little girl appears at his bedside. "I nearly missed you, Doctor August," she says. "I need to send a message." This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

The concept of reliving the same life over and over is certainly an interesting one, but I became skeptical when it's shared that
There's a fair bit of profanity, especially the f-word and God's name used in vain.
I would have liked to see more involvement with female characters, or to explore Harry's relationships with his adoptive family more, perhaps showcasing differences in each life.
An okay read, but disappointing at the same time. (
