After reading JFK assassination books for nearly 30 years, I've come to the conclusion that the Warren Commission got it right. Oswald was the lone gunman and Ruby wasn't involved in any conspiracy whatsoever. The evidence for both staements is simply overwhelming and IMHO, incontrovertable.

At the time the Warren Commission was issued, 87% of Americans felt Oswald was the lone killer. Only after conspiracy books, which laid out their narratives with completely false and misleading information, did the public start to lean towards conspiracy. If wild theories go unanswered without context, you have theories put out there that are repeated again and again until people think that that is the real story. This books explains all of the misconceptions and crazy conspiracy theories and puts them to rest with proof and answers that are backed up by facts and dozens of footnotes from the people who lived through and went on the record with the author or other reporters.

I implore all who are seriously interested in this subject to read this book. ( )

El libro que desvela todas las claves del asesinato de Kennedy cuando se cumplen 50 años del magnicidio.

La explosiva crónica del asesinato de Kennedy que obligará a reescribir la historia del magnicidio más famoso del siglo XX.

5719. A Cruel and Shocking Act The Secret History of the Kennedy Assassination, by Philip Shenon (read 20 Nov 2020) This book, published in 2013, has 556 pages of text, 35 pages of notes, and a 6 page bibliography as well as an index. My view of the event has long been that the Warren Commission got it right--that Oswald acted alone and that there was no conspiracy. That view was induced by Gerald Posner's book, Case Closed, (read 31 Dec 1993) and Vincent Bugliosi's magnum opus, Reclaiming History, (read 24 Nov 2007). This book raises lots of question and shows that some things the Warren Commission did not cover or get right but does not show that its conclusions were wrong One could spend years studying the facts and the available material. This book was easy to read and of high interest. ( )

Veramente un ottimo saggio che spiega come ha operato la commissione Warren nell'indagine sull'assasinio di Kennedy. Per chi non ha alcuna conoscenza degli avvenimenti non è consigliato, meglio leggere prima altri libri sull'argomento. ( )

If there is anything you need to know about the assassination of JFK, this is the book. I barely remember this happening but I do know that this made an indelible mark in both of my parents and reading this book brought me closer to understanding their sorrow. I would encourage anyone who wants to know more to turn to this book for answers. ( )

Fifty years out, we have hundreds of thousands of pages dedicated to undoing and redoing the work of the Warren Commission. But the more we find out, Shenon suggests, the more we realize how little we know. “In many ways,” he concludes, “this book is an account of my discovery of how much of the truth about the Kennedy assassination has still not been told.”
