Aaahhh! The Stormchaser is a slippery as they come. It's as if he literally rides the wind of the storm and lets it throw him where ever his serial killer mind thinks he should be. I can't put these books down! ( )

Review: Going Twice by Sharon Sala.

I thought the story was intriguing with lots of drama, action, some romance and a protagonist with many faces. It’s the second book to the Forces of Nature Series but you don’t need to read the first book because this book updates you about what happed to the “stormchaser” the first time around.

The story is about a serial killer, Hershal Inman, who keeps up to date with natural disasters and is obsessed with murdering helpless survivors in the aftermath because his wife was not rescued before a flood swept her away and he blames others who survive any course of tragedy by nature. The first time around it was a storm/flood situation and he shot the survivors in the head. That is the reason three FBI agents got involved.

In this book the setting takes place in tornado areas. The stormchaser starts off by being caught up in one of these tornado’s and adds more damage to his face after the boat explosion in the floods left his face burnt severely. No one knew if he was dead or alive after the explosion but the FBI believe they would hear from him again.

Then the tornado season was in effect and after a tornado touches down in an area he seeks out victims, uses a police taser to put them in his control, strangles them, mutilates their faces so they can’t be recognized and stripes them of their clothing and leaves them naked in the ruins of a tornado. He is unable to use a gun this time around because the sound would travel in a wide area and he didn’t want any witnesses.

Plus, the stormchaser also knew that the same three FBI agents would come looking for him once again because he sent a text message to the FBI profiler of the team letting him know he was still alive and entices him to come looking for him but the stormchaser doesn’t know right off that there are four agents this time and when he finds out he wants the FBI newcomer dead because she did not belong… She was crashing in on his territory which was his three FBI agents.

One thing on Hershal side is that they don’t know what he looks like. He always used disguises but this time around his face was already a mask of horror which is another reason he mars the faces of his victims. Hershal plans are not going the way he wants. He ends up arguing with his dead wife and gets confused when things don’t go his way. He ends up embarking upon the homeless and prostitutes, killing them and dropping them off on the ruins of the tornado. Yet, he is still obsessed with getting Jo Luckett, the new FBI agent who is actually the ex-husband of Wade of the FBI team that’s on the case. This is the first time the unhappy couple comes together since their divorce. They don’t start off enjoying the reunion but being a predictable situation for this genre I won’t add to the ending of there encounter.

That is another issue which sets the stormchaser off and he is determined to hurt Wade Luckette by kidnapping his ex-wife and torturing her till she is dead. Does the stormchaser finally get to Jo after he failed the first time attacking her and do the FBI agents finally nab Hershal Inman….?? Is either one of them still alive?…..Read on to find the answers….

A serial killer dubbed the Stormchaser is killing people and it's up to Wade Luckett and his team to hunt him down. Wade also has to work with his ex-wife, Jo, tragedy tore them apart but now he has to deal with her and hunt the killer.

When Jo is attacked by the killer they have to ramp up their game and try harder. ( )

Death and destruction are everywhere. Tornados and storms hit with a vengeance and many lose their lives. But there are those who survive only to be pulled from the wreckage and killed by a madman. Hershel, the Stormchaser, is out to make everyone pay for the death of his wife Louise. Help didn’t come quick enough when the horrible storms hit and they were stuck on the roof of their ravaged home. Louise died. Hershel blames the government and everyone who didn’t come to their aid.

It’s not Hershel’s nor the FBI team’s first go-round. Tate, Wade, and Cameron butt heads with Hershel a year prior when he first began his lonely road of retribution. The FBI team wasn’t able to catch him then and now Hershel is back again, just as the storms are.

Only this time FBI Agent Jo Luckett is added to the team. Jo is Wade’s ex-wife and it makes for some uncomfortable situations. They lost their unborn baby years ago and guilt, anger, hurt, and betrayal tore them apart. Do they still love each other and will it be enough to mend old wounds?

Hershel is angry about Jo’s presence. It screws up his team. She wasn’t part of the hunt last year and now that she is, Hershel is thrown for a loop. He must get rid of her. Will Jo and Wade finally settle their long and hurtful animosity or will Hershel kill Jo before she and Wade can make amends?

These are a few questions I had while zooming through this book. There are tense situations throughout, as well as astonishment as I read Hershel’s dialogue with his dead wife. He’s part crazy and part intelligent. The mixture of the two makes for one hell of a thriller.

If Sala was going for a terrorizing, thrilling, hard to put down, intense novel, she hit the nail on the head. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.
