![]() Det finns inga diskussioner på LibraryThing om den här boken. Fast paced, interesting plot, creepy bad guys - what's not to like? Maybe a touch unbelievable, but I'm okay with that. I'd read more by this author. ( ![]() Pretty good survival/thriller story... just a bit of a surprise at the end. When I discovered Koryta last year, he fast became one of my favorite suspense authors, and this novel didn't disappoint. He brings the wilderness and characters in this book to life--there's no other way to describe it--and the storytelling talent he wields is incredible. From the moment I began reading, I was wrapped up in the characters in their world, and they felt real. I will say that this novel didn't suck me in as fast and hard as some of his other novels, but that may be because of my own phobias. I'm terrified of fire--and in all honesty, the blurb for this book would have scared me off outright if I hadn't already been such a fan of Koryta. As is, because of the reality involved in the fire scenes, there were moments where I was cursing Koryta for writing the book even as I kept reading, and I was sobbing at the end of it, as well, even though I couldn't stop reading. So, with all this in mind, I'm honestly not sure whether this book ending up a notch below Koryta's other novels in my estimation--though it's still pretty damned good, no matter how I look at it--is related to all of the fire or related to it being just a sight less powerful than the others. Regardless, I recommend it, though you might try some of his other works first if you have a problem with fire. I'm really liking this author! This book kept me very engaged. Towards the ending it sort-of slowed down, which I guess is natural, but I was hooked right up until then. I'm glad I discovered this book and author. It doesn't take long to grab the listeners attention and then it holds it well. It comes a good sense of the high mountains and presents several perspectives well: a twelve year old boy, a thirtysomething survival trainer, his wife a resourceful outdoorswoman, a woman firetower watcher, and the antiheroes. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
"When 13-year-old Jace Wilson witnesses a brutal murder, he's plunged into a new life, issued a false identity and hidden in a wilderness skills program for troubled teens. The plan is to get Jace off the grid while police find the two killers. The result is the start of a nightmare. The killers, known as the Blackwell Brothers, are slaughtering anyone who gets in their way in a methodical quest to reach him. Now all that remains between them and the boy are Ethan and Allison Serbin, who run the wilderness survival program; Hannah Faber, who occupies a lonely fire lookout tower; and endless miles of desolate Montana mountains. The clock is ticking, the mountains are burning, and those who wish Jace Wilson dead are no longer far behind" -- Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
