While the plot is slightly less interesting than that of the first book, this one is still ridiculously fun. Shannon Hale somehow manages to give each character—and there are a lot of them—a personality, and some of those puns and pop culture references are flat-out hilarious. And who doesn't love Maddie? Gosh, I know these books are part of a marketing scheme to get young girls to buy ugly dolls, but I am not ashamed to say I adore these books. I am endlessly entertained by fairytale stories, especially ones that throw all the characters into the same world. Once Upon a Time should have hired Shannon Hale to be one of their writers after season one ended . . . Pretty good. Again, it's Raven's choices working out for the rest of the school (and beyond), but this time it worked better for me. The POV is divided between Raven and Apple, with a few bits with Maddie (all talking to the Narrator...we learn a bit about him/her, too). Lots of secrets revealed - Cerise's, in particular, is blown to smithereens, with an elegant (temporary) solution to the matter. A nice trick with the spell, and Apple finds the advice she's been given isn't quite as pointless as she'd been thinking. Grimm is going to blow his top pretty soon - they keep blocking him. It will be interesting to see Baba Yaga dealing with the young one. All sorts of neat things going on - and Raven makes a few more choices and decisions, which will probably ripple out again, but they are much more positive than the simple decision _not_ to sign. Now she has some idea of what she wants, not just what she doesn't want. And a solid lead-in to the next story, because that's going to have to be dealt with... In "Ever After High- The Unfairest Of Them All" the main characters are Apple White (daughter of Snow White), Raven Queen (daughter of the Evil Queen), and Maddie Hatter (daughter of the Mad Hatter). Apple is a Royal and thinks you should always follow your fairy tale destiny. Raven and Maddie on the other hand, are Rebels and disagree. The story takes place at a school called Ever After High. One day everything goes wrong. Apple and Raven have to contact the Evil Queen (Raven's Mom) to save Maddie from being expelled and banished from the town of Ever After. After all of this, will Maddie fulfill her destiny? "Ever After High-The Unfairest of Them All" is an extraordinary book, especially if you are an Ever After High fan. I gave this 5 stars because I love the interaction between the characters and the suspense at the end. This is recommended for 3rd- 6th graders. If you love the original fairy tales like Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and Cinderella, you will love Shannon Hale's twist on the classics. 4.5 stars. I must have been in a different frame of mind with this one than the first because instead of being annoyed at the funny quirks and twists of fairy tales, I found them hilarious and clever. Favorite line: "It's about to get all nonfiction in here." I love where this is going and can't wait to deal with the Jabberwocky in the next book. He's always been deliciously chilling for me ever since the made-for-TV Alice in the 80's. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
