I absolutely love Kingdom Hearts. The manga is more of a comedy version of it. If you're a fan of the video game, the Kingdom Hearts manga is something I would definitely recommend. This is based off Chain of Memories of course. Sora, Donald and Goofy have come to Castle Oblivion and forgotten everything. They have to travel through the castle to try to get their memories back and find King Mickey and Riku. ( )

This book is based on the video game Kingdom Hearts. It is a mixture of Disney characters and settings along with Final Fantasy characters and settings. The main character in this series is Sora. He travels around with Goofy and Donald Duck to retrieve his memory and his friends. There are classic stories that they run into such as Aladdin, but they do meet people from Final Fantasy such as Sepheroth, Axel, Vexin, Zexion, Marluxia, Larxene, and Lexaeus. The Disney villains are the villains in the story line lead by Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. However, she also controls some Final Fantasy characters such as the Heartless. Sora befriends some of the Final Fantasy characters and Disney characters on his journey. He even helps King Mickey Mouse at times.

This is a manga which must be read backwards than usual. I love all of the games and always wonder which story we will pop in next. This book is great for kids who crave adventure. Like the games, you never know who you will meet or if you will become part of your favorite Disney story. I would not discourage giving this to a child because they can still enjoy reading and they are great for the transition between picture books to chapter novels.

If I use this in a classroom, I would have the children tell me if they know where the Disney characters are from. I would also have them come up with their own panels of a short story and present it or let the class switch their stories with another student to read.

This is a very cute, very amusing follow-up to the "Kingdom Hearts" manga series and video game which I am only slightly familiar with, but has always fascinated me. In this volume we find Sora, Donald, Goofy and Jiminy Cricket stuck in Castle Oblivion with waning memories of how and why they are there. However, the main goal of finding and freeing King Mickey and Riku from the darkness they sacrificed themselves to remains. As the gang continues further in they run into new (I think) opponents who are all very enigmatic.

Even without knowing the background in its entirety this was still a great quest fantasy story made even better by its humor, wonderful artwork (is it so wrong for me to think that Leon and Riku are just impossibly cute?) and, of course, appearances by a variety of Disney characters that I love. The plot relies heavily on ideals of friendship, loyalty and compassion which I really enjoy as well. There were a couple parts that even had me laughing out loud, such as Donald's "Blizzard" spell and trying to convince Jafar to become a genie ("will I have to go around nearly naked, like you?")

This is certainly one that I enjoyed a lot and is made even better because I can share with my 9 year old son about the story since he read it before I did. ( )

Sora, Donald, and Goofy started to find everybody when they stumbled inside a castle that can take memories when you step foot inside.Nearby in the castle, Riku manages to escape the dark realm. Little did Sora knew that the castle was the home of the nobodies. ( )
