Grant Manwhore. Adrenaline junkie. Lead singer of ContraBand. What you see is what you get. I make no apologies for my actions, and by now no one expects any from me. I live my life the way I want and as long as it pushes the demons back, then I'm solid. I've never needed a chick for more than a good lay. Why would I need just one when I can have a different one every night? Until she walks into my world. Aribel Mouthy. Perfectionist. Princeton student. Chemistry major. Yes, that pretty much describes me. Oh, and virgin. But I'm only nineteen, and have more important things to concern myself with. What really matters is finishing my degree and getting a good job. I've worked hard for what I want, and do what's expected of me. I don't need anyone to get in my way. Until he opens up my world. But if I give you my world, whatever you do...don't take me for granted. Find out what happens with Grant and Aribel in part one of the Take Me duet … (mer)

I waited to write this review since I joined the Take Me With You blog tour. I was really hoping that after reading both books, that I would have appreciated and liked Take Me For Granted a little more. Sadly, that didn't happen.

I am struggling with my rating of this book. I am disappointed in my disappointment in this series. Kyla has managed to write some great books in the past, but this series just isn't her.

Take Me For Granted introduced us to Grant and Aribel. The elements are there. Rock Star. Bad Boy. Strong-Willed Female. In all honestly, the start of the this series fell flat. The characters were not likable or relate-able. I didn't like either of them. Maybe it's the character development, maybe it's the characters themselves? I am not sure.

Take Me With You was no better. We got more of these characters. Neither character seem to grow. The story line itself isn't really that attention getting. Maybe it's that the rock star books are over told? Maybe this story itself isn't original enough? I really am not sure.

Now you are probably wondering if these books didn't do anything for me, why 3 stars? Well.... these books aren't bad books. They are average for their genre. The writing isn't bad. It's average. Many seem to love these books, many are in agreement with me. I think I expected much more from these books since the author has delivered so much more in her previous books. Basically, for me, these books are just average books. I am not screaming over the mountain tops that everyone must read. I am not saying that they aren't worth reading. I think these books are more subjective to being liked or disliked depending on what one generally likes.

I received a copy of this book from the author herself from a giveaway she was doing on Facebook. Let me tell you, I loved it! And I don't feel like I HAVE to say that. Linde wrote about two totally different characters. At first I was really not liking Grant at all. Didn't know how the author was going to redeem him to me for something he did early on in the book. (BTW: Vin is a fucking douche-nozzle) Anyway, I started liking Grant more than I did Ari, I guess because I related to his IMperfections more than her perfections. I got the impression that the story would end on a cliffhanger, and it did, but not so much that I'm pissed at the author.
Cant wait for TMWY!!! ( )

But I hate the way it ended! Ari and Grant are a great couple who like other rock star couples have problems to work thru in order to have a real relationship. Grant is the typical cocky less singer. Ari is a science need. Opposites attract and all that. The story was really good and the drama between the couple kept out moving forward, but I really wish I had known how it would end.....here's hoping there's another book on the works!!!! ( )

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

I've been working on a super secret project for a little while now. I wasn't sure if it was going to turn into anything, but I can't seem to stop writing it. I'm madly in love with this book! Now that I'm at a comfortable distance, I can tell you about it!!!

Sneak Peek into Chapter 1!!!

Chapter 1
[ Grant I don’t remember the number of women I’ve fucked.Yeah, that might sound cocky or maybe a bit disgusting even, but I’ve never given two fucks. I wasn’t about to start now.And whoever was lying beside me right now needed to get the fuck out before I started remembering her name. Did I remember her name? Lany. Lacy. Lucy? No. Fuck. I didn’t give a shit. She just needed to leave so that I could get back to sleep.“Babe,” I grumbled, nudging the chick in the ribs. “Darlin’.”“Mmm,” she groaned. “I love when you call me darlin’.”I already knew she liked it. She had lost her clothes quickly enough to the sound of it last night. Now, I was pretty sure I’d never say it again if it meant that she would get out quicker.“Time to go home.”The girl turned on her side and tucked the comforter over her tits. Well, there went her best quality. She gave me a come-and-get-me look and pouted her lips as if that was going to change my mind.“Oh come on, Grant,” she whispered throatily. Her hand slid down my chest and then farther south. Yeah, not happening. I wasn’t interested in another mediocre performance on her part. Maybe a blowjob, but even then probably not.She stroked my cock and I was reconsidering that blowjob. She had to be better at sucking dick then fucking. It was some unwritten rule. Either they sucked or they fucked.“No, honey. It’s time for you to go home.” I rolled onto my back and reached for a joint on my nightstand.“That’s not what you were saying last night.”I flicked the zippo to life and took a drag on the joint. “That’s what I’m saying now. You knew how this was going to go when you came back with me. So save me the headache and just leave.”“Whore,” she snapped. She hopped out of bed, snatched up her clothes, and then stormed toward the door. I waited until it slammed shut behind her before blowing out the smoke.Wasn’t the first time I’d heard that either. I preferred the term man whore. I’d earned that title and I was fucking proud of it.
