Surely Abraham has made a positive contribution in redirecting evangelism from the human axis to the divine. He has struck the right tone in pleading for a credible communication of the gospel by the whole community of believers. But one sometimes feels that he is adopting Bushnell's view of evangelism by education without conversion.

Abraham's integration of theology and the practice of evangelism, however, makes his The Logic of Evangelism the most significant contribution to the study of evangelism in our generation!

This book deserves a serious reading by anyone interested in correcting the weaknesses in contemporary approaches to evangelism. One need not accept all of Abraham's conclusions to recognize that he has made a major contribution in his analysis of how the modern church thinks about evangelism.

William Abraham may be the strongest mind now addressing evangelism, but The Logic of Evangelism does not quite fulfill this potential. The book, mistitled, is more polemic than logic; indeed, with contentious tone, the book bombards the reader with many unsupported opinions and assertions, although the last chapter is admirably argued.

None of these questions detracts from the great service this book can do for the church, helping it toward a vision of evangelism as an indispensable ingredient in its total ministry.
