This was an interesting story about a girl who finds an old compact in an allegedly haunted house and discovered that by reciting some words, she can make whatever she envisions in the compact come true. What seems like a miracle turns in to a curse when she wishes her way to a point that she can't wish out of. Pfearville's local bullies are back in force for this eerie tale that really capitalizes on the old saying "be careful what you wish for." This was an excellent read. It not only entertains you but teaches a lesson. Pelham is a young girl that is bullied every day at school. Several children at school boys and girls all taunt and pick on Pelham because she’s not the prettiest or the best at games. When she comes across a mirror compact that holds magic to give her anything her heart desires she must decide what it is that she wants the most and how far is too far. This is a good read for just about anyone but I would have to recommend it to readers between 8 and 15 years old. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is definitely geared toward children aged 8-14/15. It has a great storyline and remarkable characters. This was a horror story that wasn't so graphic you would cringe to let your child read it. The only thing I could find wrong was a few minor grammatical errors, but it wasn't even worth bringing down the star rating for. I enjoyed this book, even though I know it is aimed for a younger reader. It was very imaginative. The main character, Pelham, just wants to be pretty, so this story shows how young girls will do anything to make themselves pretty, even if it involves using a dark magic. Palham went through a journey that was quite an interesting read. I enjoyed how the character had things going her way, before the dark magic opened her to a world of darkness, and took away the things she was working for. On the version I read some of the sentences were cut off, so there were some small remaining parts of a sentence missing. However, I was able to imagine the rest of the sentence that was supposed to be there. I would suggest reviewing the book to make sure that if viewed in different formats, that there will not be any issues cutting off sentences. Overall, it was a good quick read. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

"Pelham, smell 'em. Pelham, smell 'em."Kids can be so mean. They had been chanting that phrase since kindergarten. Even at five years old Pelham was not a cool kid, and her classmates never let her forget it. She wasn't good at school, or sports, and definitely not good at talking with boys. That was all before she found the magic mirror that seemed an answer to her prayers. Day after day after day her wishes came true, but at what price? Was she living a dream, or was she wishing herself into a nightmare? The mirror could reveal her heart's desire, but would she abuse the power before it could transform her into what she always wanted to be...The Pretty Girl? It is a good story ,I suppose, aimed towards young readers, so I didn't enjoy reading it much. (
