Como li o livro anterior desta "série", decidi também ler este, tinha um plot demasiado óbvio - relação proibida entre a professora e aluno! NO ENTANTO, achei o livro bastante interessante!

Começou tudo como uma espécie de desafio para o Noel, pois ele queria apenas boa nota a inglês, não só porque era uma estrela de futebol, mas porque realmente merecia e porque se esforçava! Enquanto a Aspen (professora dele), estava demasiado destraída a julga-lo (por ele ser demasiado arrogante e convencido) para realmente apreciar que ele estava a esforçar. MAS tudo mudou (como se ninguém estivesse à espera disso) quando ela veio toda produzida para o bar onde ele trabalhava, em vez das roupas esquisitas que ela constumava usar nas aulas. E quando ele descobre que ela é muito mais nova do que parece e depois de ela se embebedar contar-lhe toda a história da sua vida e porque nunca gostou dele. Depois disso Noel viu-a com os novos olhos.


No geral, achei que eles eram engraçados juntos, apesar dela ser super-hiper-mega insegura e ele, completamente o contrário, e talvez foi por causa disso que tudo resultou com eles. Foi interessante ver a tensão a subir, pois eles percebiam que não podiam estar juntos (a cena do professora-aluno). Os diálogos entre eles foram engraçados e super intensos, ela sabia sempre o que lhe dizer e ele, sem saber porquê, gostava de a ouvir e ser melhor para ela (porque amor e tal!)

Bem, só não dei mais pontos, porque para mim esticou-se muito no início e no meio... ( )

Linda Kage has become one of my favorite New Adult authors. The struggles that the characters who are in there early twenties go through even though are fiction are realistic in that at that even though considered an adult they still struggle between the two worlds and are still dealing with familial struggles, insecurities, sexuality and depression. One of the biggest is the mistakes the still make due to not having the life experience yet. This author also loves to add plenty of angst to the mix to keep you turning the pages to see if the characters are going to get their happy ever after.

Aspen is a college professor. Even though she has achieved that milestone in her life she is just 23 and was raised in a home by two parents that never showed her love. The one time she sought that from a popular high school jock she paid for it in the worst way that has left scars on her soul. Aspen was a genius in the IQ department but very immature when it came to relationships and knowing how to deal with feelings. When she finds herself attracted to one of her students that reminds her of that boy from high school she is disgusted with herself not only because he is her student but because she seems to be doomed to be attracted to the wrong type of men.

Noel is the quarterback of the college football team. He is adored by the women on campus and praised by the male faculty because he could take the team to the championship. But on the inside Noel has to deal with the record that constantly plays in his head that he is a nobody that was raised in a trailer park by a worthless mother that had 4 kids and never cared out about them that left him to raise and support them. Noel in many ways is the mature one between him and Aspen as he had to grow up fast due to his childhood. He is juggling so many things. He is trying to keep his grades up high enough to stay on the football team and not lose his scholarship, working long hours to be able to send money home to his high school sister who is taking care of their two brothers, and basically running the bar where he works. In his mind he is trying is hardest in Dr Kavanagh’s class but she keeps giving him D’s.

When Noel finally confronts Aspen on why she keeps giving him low grades the two realize they have made assumptions about the other that are not true. Its not long before they both realizes that the other completes something in them but the risk of their relationship far outweighs the rewards. Or does it???

Mason and Reese are back from the first book and we get to see even though they still strong as a couple that the past still has a tendency to rear its ugly head. I saw in a few reviews that others didn’t get a scene where this happened and I didn’t understand because if you had read the first book you would totally get the scene and it also sets up the next book.

If you like the young adult genre and like to read plenty of angst this is a great series.
