Such an interesting idea for a book. Think of what could happen, now forget that because the author isn't going to use any of it, he decided to write a slow, depressing story with unlikeable characters. ( )

THIS time....I actually read the BOOK. How did I not realize that I had already listened to the audio of this book??? This is why I LOVE LibraryThing but somehow I missed the fact that I had listened to the audio in the past...I still agree with what I wrote then---back in May of 2015:

I'm perplexed.....great audio but it doesn't really make me want to go back and read his first novel, The Returned. I thought the aspects of an event leading to an overabundance of attention by the public was handled beautifully ---all too similar to what seems to happen in real life--but the abilities of Ava and the mystery of what happened to her mother are just not something that made for great listening, at least to me. Not sure about the ending. ( )

This well-crafted book was so well-crafted it was bland It was like the music at a wedding that was good enough not to warrant any bad attention. Or the beautiful photographs of models in advertisements at the store when we're shopping for underwear.

It's the story of a 13 year old miracle child named Ava who heals her best friend Wash. The good people of the world flocked to the town begging for her healing powers to be used on them. They did not realize each time she saved someone she was dying.

I am fazed how a group of such desperate people did not desperately follow them all over town, especially to their house. Instead a lot of the story had the main characters wandering the mountain side alone. Are the police really that good?

Through flashbacks, it's also a story of a young girl and her mother. I thought there would be more of a tie with the current story line. But hey, it's call Wonder of All Things not Answer to All Things ( )

Del escritor de la serie RESURRECTION, al menos el libro en el que está basada la serie, llega The Wonder of All Things, libro que llevarán al cine próximamente. Un libro que tocó mucho más temas importantes de lo que esperaba.

En este mundo hay maravillas inexplicables (1/2 cita del libro)

Como lectores acostumbrados a las distopías y fantasía, para algunos es fácil decir “si pasará esto o aquello, reaccionaría de la manera más natural posible. Incluso estaría feliz” ¿Pero qué tan de cierto hay en eso? ¿Cómo en realidad reaccionamos a lo extraordinario? ¿A lo imposible? The Wonder of all Things, como su nombre bien lo dice (La extraordinario de todas las cosas, sería una de sus traducciones en español) nos trae un hecho inexplicable, algo que solo podemos ver en la biblia o como noticia curiosa al final del noticiero sobre alguien que dice tener poderes de curación. Pero ¿qué pasa sin son ciertos, si el milagro fue grabado y subido a YouTube al instante? En el mejor de los casos, reaccionaríamos de manera racional. ¿Sólo que cuándo el ser humano ha reaccionado con la opción del mejor de los casos? Tenemos la particularidad de encontrar algo hermoso y utilizarlo hasta destruirlo. ¿Por qué sería diferente para Ava? Quiero decir, es solo una niña y el resto del mundo son adultos pensantes y responsables, sabrán comportarse ¿verdad?

Hay algo llamado histeria, se produce cuando una emoción es tan fuerte, positiva o negativa, que muchas de las cosas que parecerían impensables son hechas. Imagina que alguien te dice que pueden curar tu enfermedad mortal o la de alguien que amas demasiado. La sola idea de que alguien que amas esté enfermo es dolorosa pero si pudieras curarlo, si esa cura incluso significa que una niña sufra daños cada vez que cura a alguien ¿le pedirías que lo hiciera? Sé que muchos diremos no, eso es inhumano. The Wonder of All Things trata sobre llegar a decisiones al límite por las personas que amas. Sobre una pequeña niña que tiene que tomar decisiones imposibles porque ya no se pertenece, ahora le pertenece al mundo tan solo porque el mundo lo decidió así.

Sí, no voy a negar que durante muchos momentos el libro hizo me sintiera incómoda, no soy una persona religiosa y el sentir que le pertenezco o TENGO que HACER algo por otra persona porque es LO CORRECTO se me hace intolerable. La religión no es parte fundamental del libro, sino más bien sentí que el escritor Jason Mott la usó como un medio (como cosa personal me abstengo de leer libros que profesen alguna religión o estén centradas exclusivamente en ellas), no salí con mejor ni peor opinión de ninguna religión al terminar el libro pero sí, usaron todas esas frases que utilizan mucho las personas muy religiosas y me fastidian mucho.

Algunas cosas se supone deben terminan (cita del libro)

Como dije al inicio, el The Wonder of All Things no solo habla sobre el “que tal sí existiera la posibilidad de un milagro” sino también la depresión. El libro está narrado en tercera persona así que nos da amplitud con los sentimientos de los personajes y uno de los que se centra, un personaje con depresión y que desde el inicio sabemos lleva al suicidio, se me hizo muy sincera, su manera de pensar, el como la depresión no es algo que estuvo desde el principio en su vida, sino algo que solo fue creciendo y a veces no nos damos cuenta.

The Wonder of All Things a pesar de lo que puede parecer no es un libro triste, tampoco es una comedia obviamente, es un libro que tiene varios mensajes entre sus páginas, creo que todos hemos pasado por al menos uno de sus escenarios.
