This book is about a chicken that has a neighbor that is completely different that the chicken is. They have opposite schedules and one day another neighbor moves in. Chicken is very curious to see who it is so chicken writes a letter to invite the new neighbor over, it turns out that the new neighbor is an owl that has a completely different schedule but owl agrees to go. They both wait eagerly to see who there new neighbor could be and when they meet they realize that they have completely different schedules. So chicken buys a chalk board and they communicate with each other through the chalkboard whenever they can.

This book talks about the relationship of Chicken and his new neighbor Owl. It takes a while for the two to finally meet because of their different sleeping schedules. This problem leads to Chicken leaving Owl a note saying he will like to meet. The story goes on to show how it takes them a while to interact due to their differences in living but end up meeting and understanding each other. This book talks about the different types of friendships one may have, and how even if people aren't like you, does not mean you cannot be friends. Chicken and Owl both learned how to compromise with each other, and set up a way for them to hangout that does not interfere with the others daily schedule. It teaches children how friendships come in many different ways, and how if there is an issue between two people, you can figure out a way to solve it. ( )

This book teaches readers about compromise. The neighbors both are awake at different times, but learn how to communicate by leaving notes for each other on a board between their houses. This book is most suitable for young readers with easy language and full page drawings.

This book is good for demonstrating the strength of friendship bonds. Chicken and Owl find ways to make their lifestyles work around their friendship. The illustrations, in my opinion, are a bit sloppy, so I believe that the story might be best conveyed through words alone.
