A fast pasted fantasy fiction for 3rd to 7th graders. Characters were appealing, great descriptive writing and the plot was well developed, however, you will need to read book 2 of the series because this book ends on a cliffhanger. Set in Wolfhaven Castle, four young people are forced to work together to escape the castle and find the four creatures that can help them. ( )

Instantly this book attracts a young reader with its colorful cover. The imagery gives a clue to the main theme hidden within the book. A beautiful unicorn is tucked into the Q in QUEST. Written for 8 – 12 year olds it is an instant hit as it opens with a ‘Map of Wolfhaven’ and the castle.
The opening line “Tell your lord to beware, the wolves smell danger in the wind” sets the scene for a suspenseful story of four unlikely heroes who are thrown into a quest to save their families and the people of Wolfhaven.
Wolfhaven Castle has been attacked by an amour clad tusked knight and military of faceless bog men. Only four escape capture ...Tom, trained to scrub pots, not fight; Elanor, the Lord of Wolfhaven’s daughter; Sebastian, a knight in training and Quinn, the witch’s apprentice. Instructed by the witch Arwen, these unlikely heroes must find four magical beasts from legend. As the cover suggests, they find a unicorn and save it from being slaughtered by the tusked knight.
This series is similar in layout and storyline to Deltora Quest, however this is a lot lighter and easier to read and I found enjoyable for those readers beginning to read fantasy. Therefore we will be following this series of five books. ( )

Not bad as far as Quest books go. Similar to Deltora Quest and Quentaris.
