As a Southerner, I am no stranger to comfort food. For me, it typically involves some fried foods as well as a nice soup or anything else of that nature. This book combined the typical comfort foods as well as recipes that correspond to paleo and gluten-free diets (for those who can't eat the stereotypical Southern comfort food). The recipes are straight-to-the-point, with an ingredient list and then directions. We are given a bit of background about what all comfort food entails and then the author divides the recipes into categories, such as slow cooker, paleo, gluten-free, and even desserts. Overall, I found this to be a great cookbook and the recipes look very easy to prepare while sounding scrumptious. ( )Recensionen skriven för LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Comfort food evokes a number of responses from a variety of people. As part of a balanced diet, I see no problem with enjoying homemade comfort foods; however, I cook them exclusively rather than purchasing processed versions of these foods. This little cookbook wasn't as great as I was hoping, but there are some good recipes in it. There are also some recipes that I will never look at again, as they are not "from scratch" and do not result in anything healthier than going to a store and buying the comfort food (of note, the entire slow cooker chapter). I did appreciate the gluten-free treats that are actually modified to be gluten-free (rather than simply listing recipes that are naturally free of gluten as was done earlier in that chapter). I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Member Giveaway program in exchange for my honest review. Recensionen skriven för LibraryThing Member Giveaways. How to Prepare Comfort Food Your Family Will Love is a fabulous book with some of the easiest recipes I've ever seen! I've tried the Italian Tomato Soup and it's going to be one of my new favorite comfort foods (and I'm a picky eater). There are actually many of the recipes in this book I'm going to try, especially the Gluten Free Cookies with Peanut Butter. Ms. Gracey makes the book easy to read and understand and the recipes are quite simple to put together. There are only a few ingredients to the recipes and the directions are very easy to follow. She explains the comfort food concept with ease and I'm making the recipes in this book a regular habit. I'm delighted I got the chance to read it and incorporate the recipes into my lifestyle. This is one of those "keeper" recipe books you and your family will love! 5 Stars https://www.librarything.com/work/15354041/book/113007854 http://www.amazon.com/review/R125WXWP9DGQM4 http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/how-to-prepare-comfort-food-your-family-will-lov... https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1070614633 inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
All of us are aware of what comfort foods are and can also safely say that we enjoy having some of that food especially when we are down. For those who love comfort foods and are not able to prepare any ourselves a copy of "How To Prepare Comfort Food Your Family Will Love" would suit them well. It not only explains what comfort food really is but it gives the reader some really great recipe options that they can use to make their favorite comfort food or simply try out a new comfort food. The main aim that the author has with this text is to highlight the fact that though we live in a world where most people are being extremely health conscious, comfort foods still have a place in the home. These foods typically are family recipes that have been handed down over the years and have some sentimental value as a result of that. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
