Sara and Brian’s dream family vacation to Paris feels achingly real, from children clamoring, to adults buying meals, to walks around Paris and honest delight in the sights. Sara’s dreams, always present in this series, warn her that somebody else’s child might be in danger. But she doesn’t know who, and she tries to keep her mind on her own family. However, lovesick teenagers can be awkwardly good at escaping their mother’s gaze, and Sara’s oldest daughter soon turns this dream into a nightmare.

Readers might guess faster than the protagonist what’s going on. But the story stays firmly in the Sara’s point of view, pulling readers along so they share in her terror and urgent need to find the missing child. Parents of teenage girls might find wise lessons hidden between the lines. Parents of wandering offspring will see how easily mistakes can be made. And parents just looking for a good read will eagerly pray for a safe resolution.

Dream Vacation deals in very real, very scary situations, adds paranormal dreams and touches of romance, young and old, and offers a fast-flowing, satisfying and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Disclosure: I can’t remember how I got this one, but I really enjoyed it. ( )

I've read all in this series of Dream books and this is one of my favorites. The whole Alderson clan (except the littlest) is off to Europe for a dream family vacation, first to Paris and then to London for the wedding of close family friend, Janet. Sounds perfect, but wherever Sarah goes, her dreams seem to follow, and they do follow her to Europe, as soon as the first night. Sarah finds herself dreaming of teen brother and sister who seem to be getting themselves into trouble, yet she has no idea how to help them in this city that she is unfamiliar with. During the day the family take in the sights of beautiful Paris, and Sarah and Brian have to keep an eye on their teenage daughter, Grace, who is giving them the typical teen challenges. Soon enough Sarah's dreams and Grace's teen hormones collide when Grace disappears and no one can find her. Knowing that Grace is getting herself into deep trouble, the family of dreamers has to try to find Grace before something horrible happens to her.

This is book 8 in the series and it is filled with a great story, some humor, and drama- more drama than the other books I believe. Grace is definitely trying these parents as their first teen, making them question how to deal with her. It's nice to read about parents that don't have all the answers, who aren't perfect and who aren't sure of what they are doing, like all of us go through in our lives with our own children. It's a book that reveals the dark side of what happens when kids don't think about how their actions might get them into trouble. It's also a book with a very loving family, like all the others in the series, which is really refreshing. This family is supportive and respectful of each other and that is one of the things I like best about these books. No, it certainly isn't the Brady Bunch, but this is the kind of family you would want, a family who is there for each other no matter what happens. There are a lot of ups and downs in this book and I think that's one of the things that made it one of my favorites of the series. Another great addition to the Dream series for sure. ( )
