Love Neil Gaiman. ( ![]() 3.5 stars, some hits and some forgettable stories, but all with a little Gaiman woven in. While this particular compilation of short stories isn't my favorite, there are a few gems within, especially The Thing About Cassandra (and I'm not just saying that because it's my name!) and The Man Who Forgot Ray Bradbury. If it wasn't prefaced in the introduction that this was a conglomerate of stories with no intention of cohesion, I probably would've rated this lower, but because I knew it would be semi-disjointed, I knew what I was getting myself into. On a side note, this book also has one of the most beautiful introductions I have ever read. I found myself really struck by Gaiman's eloquence when describing the reasons why and how he wrote his stories... sometimes the process and the reasoning behind the stories are a beautiful tale on their own. I enjoyed most of the stories in this audio book. I only skipped a couple. It was fairly mesmerizing to listen to Neil weave his magic with words. I thought several stories ended a bit unsatisfactorily, with the reader (or listener) left to work out the conclusion on their own. But most of the time it was enough to just let the odd inner logic of the story take me away to an odd place where odd things make sense. Despite my deep and abiding love for Neil Gaiman, I just can’t get into his short stories. To be fair, I’m not much for short stories to begin with. I did, however, really enjoy the January and October pieces in "A Calendar of Tales." Of course, that just means I really, really wish those pieces were longer. (January would make a really fun action movie. Someone should do that.) InnehÃ¥llerÄr ett supplement tillPriserPrestigefyllda urval
