From the experience of restoring the highly polluted, abandonned industrial site which was to become the site of the Sydney Olympics and then being commissioned to repeat the miracle for Barangaroo, Simon and Elke Haege have extracted a series of principles and suggested prodeedures that every landscape architect, contractor and soil supplier needs to know accurately specify and manufactgure soils for landscape projects. Schools have often accepted questionable fill onto their sites for a quick fix in providing more flat playing surfaces or have modified the ground levels without being aware of the degradation this can cause to their own sites or downstream in their catchments. This book is a good reference to recommend to their design professionals as they become more intentional about restoring their ecologies and catchments. ( )
