This is a story about three somewhat unusual wolf shifters. Mick is a loner; he likes his birth pack but has “itchy feet” and cannot bear to stay so he wanders in search of whatever it is he needs. Danny and Scotty have been kicked out of their birth pack as “useless" bachelor wolves; they are mates with very different needs and abilities, in desperate need of a keeper. With three such interesting characters, I just knew this story was going to be a lot of fun – and I am happy to report I was right. Very wolf-y, lots of fun, and with more than a few hot scenes of three-way loving, this story definitely entertained me.
Mick comes from a big clan. He’s been wandering, as he calls it, but then he finds first Scotty, fenced in for his own protection and then Scotty’s mate Danny, who works too hard trying to make sure they have a home. Mick is definitely an alpha, so he takes over. He cannot bear to see Danny suffer as he tries to be the alpha for the two mates, a position he is not suited for in the least. I liked how Mick quietly set up everything for them to have a true home together, never saying a word, letting is protective instincts totally take over.
Danny is trying to be strong so he can protect Scotty – who is more wolf than man. But Danny has given up his music and being a wolf so he can do it, and both sacrifices hurt him deep-down. He also works too hard, and without enough food things are less than optimal. He has to come to terms with the fact he wasn’t enough for Scotty – or so he thinks. He assumes he is superfluous now, but boy, is he wrong! Scotty and Mick have a hard time convincing him he is wanted and needed, but it was a lot of fun watching them do their best!
Scotty is playful in wolf form, an artist when he is human. He has more energy than three men, says exactly what he thinks, and loves Danny to distraction, He also worries that Danny’s stress is his fault, because he is too much a wolf to get a job and stay human for long enough. He can see how good Mick will be for both of them, and almost losing Danny over a stupid misunderstanding tears him apart. He makes up for it with lots of kisses and cuddles, and is determined to help Danny find his inner wolf again.
If you like hot threesomes with lots of loving, if you enjoy reading shifter stories where the animal side of the equation is strong almost all the time, and if you’re looking for a cute, sweet, very entertaining read, then you will probably like this novella.
