This book is for children and tells the story of a pony who was born different from the other young horses. His legs were very short so he cannot run like they can. He's naturally teased for this, and pulls apart from the other horses, staying with his mother.

Then one day the other, unruly ponies bother a bird that causes a fire and traps a baby deer, then they all run away. However, Pega braves the danger and, in a clap of thunder, grows wings and is able to blow a safe path through the fire for the fawn to escape. He is special after all!

I'm not sure I approve of the message. It seems to tell children that, if they're teased for their difference, they should withdraw to the safety of their family and hope that someday they'll magically become more special than everyone else. For one, families aren't always safe, but, for another, it indirectly says that, if you're different, you're only valued if you become gifted. You aren't good the way you are.

Also, the bird that the ponies are teasing is called a Pegasus. As a Pegasus is a winged horse and, therefore, what Pega is, I think this is a misprint or error. It should have been Phoenix, which is a mythological bird that could have started the fire.

The artwork is very basic. I couldn't do better, but any fan artist could. This is not a labor of love here.
