I love this book!! Dorothea is one gutsy lady, who certainly isn't the typical 1920's wife. She's down to earth, gutsy, and had the courage of her convictions. Before I read this book I had no idea that it was common for wives to travel with their husbands aboard their ships. Dorothea is outspoken and not afraid to get down to brass tacks in her writing. When I grow up I want to be just like her!

I got a real feel for life aboard a sailing/cargo ship as well as an education about the customs and history of the ports in which they stopped. Highly recommended! (

I loved this book!! It's one of my few "keepers" that I pull off the shelf and re-visit every now and then. It's candid and funny! A great read! (
