This book details the development of arms and armor over the Samurai{u2019}s 700-year history. The armor covered includes the bulky yoroi, the lighter, less constricting do maru and the no dachi, as well as the especially ornate and elaborate armor of the Tokugawa era (which was most likely ceremonial and not intended for use in actual battle). Attention is also paid to the renowned Samurai cult of the sword.
